Throughout his thirty years of career, Mr. Sourial has a comprehensive experience and contributed to the financial markets and investment industry with respect to product innovation, regulatory framework development, introduction of Corporate Governance and ESG. His experience is extended to the public policy and governmental roles, as he has been involved in governmental policymaking and
economic reform programs for almost 2 decades. Furthermore, he is co-founder, of number of startups in Egypt and France, also partner in a venture capital focused on deep technology.

Currently, Mr. Sourial is the chairman and managing partner of Catalyst Partners, a regional investment bank in Egypt/Saudi Arabia. Furthermore, he is Chairman of Egytrans, a listed company on the Egyptian Exchange known to be a leader in the logistics sector. Earlier, Mr. Sourial was the Executive Chairman of Beltone Financial Holding – a leading investment bank in Egypt and a listed company on the Egyptian Exchange (2012-2021). Previously, Mr. Sourial was the Executive Chairman of the Egyptian Exchange for 5 years, after one year as deputy chairman (2004-2010). Furthermore, he was the president of the African Securities Exchanges Association (ASEA) for two 2-years term (2005-2009) where he played a role in
promoting Africa’s markets in Europe and the USA. Earlier, he spent almost a decade as an advisor to the Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade for capital markets reforms and developments (1994-2004).

On the international level, he was board member in the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE). He was also member of the G20 and OECD’s Experts Group who reviewed and proposed recommendations of amendments to the newly published G20/OECD Principles of Corporate Governance. He co-authored the first Egyptian Corporate Governance Code and contributed to number of initiatives, most importantly the OECD’s working group 5 of Corporate Governance, the UN/UNCTAD’s initiative of Sustainable Stock Exchanges and ISAR/IFRS-UNCTAD’s workshops and seminars on more transparent environment.
He has his M.Sc. in Financial Economics from Queen Mary – University of London, UK (1996-1997). He authored and co-authored number of research, policy papers, and articles mostly has been published on market efficiency, monetary policies and transmission channels, corporate governance practices, elevating aggregate demand, widening the middle class and the role of private sector.
